An ongoing project meditating on what home means to me, centered on the Kilifi Creek along the Kenyan Coast. The creek divides Kilifi Town in two. Its magnificent view is visible from the Kilifi Bridge connecting the town. Born here, I used to frequent the creek growing up before moving away with my family.
I subconsciously started photographing my interaction with the creek from a tiny beach along it years later after moving back to the town. The beach, Seahorse, which got its name from a famous but now dead resort is frequented by a mix of locals and a few tourists. While closely observing the ecosystem, I am forging a better relationship with the surrounding community, interpreting home as a mental destination many of us yearn for on an infinite journey.
